In Sairme, the tributaries of the Tsablari River were stocked with brown trout eggs

Red-Listed Brook Trout Population Restoration Project

With the organization of the National Wildlife Agency and the involvement of specialists, 20,000 fertilized eggs of the Red List species — brown trout — were placed in Sairme, in the tributaries of the Tsablari River.

The fertilized trout eggs (at the eyed stage) are released into the wild in tributaries of various mountain rivers across Georgia, where they undergo the final phase of incubation.

The release of brown trout eggs and larvae into the wild is a method that supports the reproduction of this vulnerable species and maximizes the natural hatching process.

The brown trout reproduction project for this Red List species has been implemented by the National Wildlife Agency of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture since 2016.

According to the 2025 plan, rivers will be stocked with a total of 700,000 eggs.
