A snow-drift protection structure has been installed at the National Wildlife Agency’s Caucasian Red Deer Breeding Facility
Noble Deer Restoration Program
A modern 150-meter snow-drift protection system has been installed along the perimeter fence of the breeding facility. The structure will protect the enclosure from snow accumulation caused by strong winter winds and blizzards characteristic of the climate in Algeti National Park.
Algeti National Park, strategically selected for the Caucasian red deer reintroduction program, is located in the central part of the Trialeti Range at an altitude of approximately 1,800 meters above sea level. The park’s natural habitats and high level of protection create optimal conditions both for the restoration and conservation of the species population.
The deer breeding facility—currently the largest of its kind in the Caucasus region—was established within the species restoration program approved by the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia and initiated by the National Wildlife Agency. The facility spans 72 hectares, currently holds 9 individual deer, and is equipped with modern monitoring systems, including camera traps and surveillance cameras.
