The National Wildlife Agency of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture organized an informational meeting on the draft law of Georgia "On Hunting."

The draft law "On Hunting" was prepared by Georgian and foreign experts at the initiative of the National Wildlife Agency. Its objective is to balance the economic, social, and ecological aspects of hunting while ensuring the sustainable management of game species and their habitats, regulating species populations, and creating new job opportunities for rural communities.

Yuri Nozadze, the Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture; Karlo Amirgulashvili, Head of the Biodiversity and Forestry Department; Revaz Bejashvili, Head of the National Wildlife Agency; and representatives from hunting clubs and enterprises attended the meeting.

The Deputy Minister emphasized the importance of hunting regulations and noted that the new law would be based on successful European practices.

"The draft law on hunting will introduce the best European practices in sustainable wildlife management, contributing both to the restoration of game species populations and to generating significant economic benefits from this sector," said Yuri Nozadze.

Revaz Bejashvili, the Head of the National Wildlife Agency, presented the working version of the new draft law. This was followed by an open discussion where hunters could share their opinions and suggestions.

"Notably, the new regulation includes the certification of hunters with a hunting license recognized by an international organization (CIC). This will help reduce poaching and protect vulnerable species," stated Revaz Bejashvi
