Rivers in Chokhatauri and Ozurgeti Municipalities Spawned with 40,000 Brook Trout Eggs
Red-Listed Brook Trout Population Restoration Project
As part of the Red-Listed Brook Trout Population Restoration Project, rivers in Chokhatauri and Ozurgeti municipalities have been spawned with 40,000 brook trout eggs.
Releasing brook trout eggs and larvae into the wild is a method that supports the reproduction of vulnerable species and maximizes the natural hatching process.
The Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, together with relevant agencies, conducts annual river spawning activities across the country.
The spawning process was attended by the Deputy Mayor of Chokhatauri Municipality, Mindia Zhgeria; the Deputy State Representative of the Guria Region, Zaza Shoshitaishvili; and the Head of the Biodiversity and Forestry Department of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Karlo Amirgulashvili.
