Brown Trout Population Monitoring Conducted in Stocked Rivers of Gori Municipality

Red-Listed Brook Trout Population Restoration Project

Within the framework of the Red List species brown trout restoration project, specialists from the National Wildlife Agency conducted monitoring of brown trout populations in the rivers of Gori Municipality.

The monitoring aimed to evaluate the results of the river stocking activities and assess the reproduction dynamics of the species in its natural habitat.

During the fieldwork, agency specialists inspected spawning nests located in tributaries of the rivers where the roe had previously been released. Live larvae were detected, indicating the successful development of the species and confirming the effectiveness of the restoration measures.

The monitoring results show that a significant portion of the placed roe has successfully adapted to the natural environment. Environmental parameters such as water temperature, oxygen concentration, water flow velocity, and other key ecological factors were found to be favorable for the continued development of the population.

Reaching the larval stage indicates that the trout has successfully passed one of the most critical stages of development and will soon transition to the fry stage, further strengthening the species' population in the wild.

The brown trout restoration project, which focuses on the recovery of this Red List species, has been successfully implemented by the National Wildlife Agency since 2016
